EU and U.K. Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs)
RGA upholds a high standard in personal data protection, receiving approval for both its EU and U.K. Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs). The EU BCRs were approved by the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) following a positive opinion from the European Data Protection Board (EDPB). RGA was the first reinsurer to receive regulatory approval for EU BCRs since the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) went into effect on May 25, 2018.
RGA also received approval for UK BCRs from the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) in September 2023.
EU and U.K. BCRs are internationally recognized as one of the most stringent standards for data protection.
