As Vice President and Medical Director for RGA Reinsurance Company, Dr. Megan Leivant assesses mortality risk for facultative life referrals and provides medical education and training for underwriters. She also contributes to manual development by assisting in impairment and topic reviews, as well as engages with clients to support lasting relationships and maintain a strong industry presence.
Megan is a board-certified internal medicine physician with 10 years of experience in outpatient medical practice, including teaching appointments. Prior to joining RGA in 2021, Megan held several positions in the life insurance industry as a medical director and has nearly four years of experience with direct and reinsurance companies. These include roles as Vice President and Medical Director for General Re Life Corporation and Corporate Senior Medical Director for OneAmerica. She has also served as a Physician Reviewer for Medical Review Institute of America.
Megan received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in biological sciences from DePauw University, graduating magna cum laude, and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed residency in internal medicine at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago. She has earned FLMI Level 1 and ALU Level 1 Certificates and is working toward FLMI and FALU designations, as well as board certification in insurance medicine.
